My favourite wild camping locations in the District

Unlike most other wild campers I don’t keep my wild camping spots in the Lake District and other areas secret. I rarely camp in the same location twice anyway so I prefer to share past locations so that others can benefit from them in future.

I am lucky enough to live near the Lake District and so I often spend weekends walking on the fells. As a result I have plenty of opportunities to scout out suitable lake district wild camping spots. Most people don’t have the lakes on their door step and so they have to rely on scouring over OS maps to find suitable locations. For this reason I decided to help people out a bit.

Each article contains:

  • OS Map info and grid references
  • Distance, Duration and Ascent Information
  • When to go
  • Where to park
  • Nearest water supply
  • Recommended and alternative routes with GPX file downloads.
